A BORROWER’S COMPARISON

Ledn vs Compound. Look at the whole loan.

For experienced users of onchain money markets. Compare pricing, collateral and the operational differences from Ledn.

Our assessment

Compound is an adjacent protocol alternative in the research, rather than a retail native-Bitcoin lender. This comparison covers Compound III. Wallet, contract, oracle and token risks require active management. Supported assets and market liquidity determine what is actually borrowable.

Choose the version and market first

Compound III markets have a borrowable base asset and supported collateral assets. A quote must identify the version, network, market and collateral. Do not transfer Compound v2 assumptions to a Compound III position.

Collateral and borrow balances work differently

The documentation states that collateral supplied to Compound III does not earn interest. Borrowing capacity depends on asset-specific collateral factors, and a minimum borrow size applies. Do not offset the loan cost with an assumed collateral yield.

Compare the entire path to usable funds

A market dashboard rate is only the starting input. Include transaction costs, any wrapped-Bitcoin dependency, conversion and cash-out. For a borrower seeking a managed BTC-backed loan, Ledn offers an institutional workflow; a capable onchain user may value direct market access instead.

How we weigh the evidence

Ledn’s operating record and published reports provide due-diligence material, not guarantees. Its reported investment-grade rating applies to senior notes of a specific securitization, not to customer collateral or every Ledn obligation.

Compare dated evidence for the exact product: collateral permissions, funding arrangements, performance during market stress and the borrower’s contractual rights. Different custody and funding models deserve specific analysis rather than a blanket safe-or-unsafe label.

A practical next step: Request quotes for the same net amount and planned repayment date. Keep collateral value, fee treatment and exit assumptions consistent. Use the cost calculator to explore how an upfront charge changes a short loan.

Common questions

Can I compare one Compound rate with every Ledn loan?

No. The base asset, collateral, network and market determine the onchain position. A current snapshot does not fix the future borrowing cost.
